It will start but then stop, almost as if it has a dead alternator and is just running off the battery. However, I checked the alternator and electrical system and it seems to be operating. The other weird thing is that liquid (seems to be a mixture of gas and oil) keeps flowing out of the side of the bike (needless to say kind of a hazard); I checked around and it seems that the problem might be the air filter box and/or carb but after pulling all that everything seems to be clean.

Where exactly is the fluid leaking from the bike? How much of it is there and is it only when the bike is running?

Had this problem when I picked up my GZ a while back. Turned out to be too much oil in the engine. Bike had a leak from the filter box, was slow to rev, hard to start, and sounded awful. On my first oil change (after dumping the near 1 quart I found in the filter box), the engine poured out near 4.5 quarts of oil. It's rated for 1.5 I believe (check the filler cap). It was sloshing out through the breather hose, into the carb (picking up gas), and draining into the filter box. Drain it all, swap a fresh oil filter on the right side of the engine and fill the engine up. That should tell you what to do next. Oh, and you may want to swap out a new air filter as well. The oil did some nasty things to mine when I pulled it.
